Zara Hai-the Ancient Folk-the Old Ones

The Zara Hai

I have been gaming for a very long time and while rummaging through some boxes I came across a whole load of “old school orcs”. Some of these are very old friends from way back in the day were used in early games of D and D, Fantasy Warlord and many others. They have been in a box since I last moved house and that was when my oldest daughter was born which was 27 years ago!

I was surprised to see that actually they are not too badly painted, all flat coated in Humbrol enamel, no fancy new-fangled acrylics here, no fine details picked out, no inks were used.
I really don’t have the time to strip them back to metal, too many other projects on the go, so I gave them all a going over with some washes and they actually came up reasonably well.

Leaving the bases on makes identifying them a bit more of a challenge.
How many can you identify?

The Old Ones-the Zara Hai

High up in the Grey Mountains, in a deep, dark, secret valley, hidden from the world and long forgotten by the lore masters and those who are accounted wise there dwells a tribe of Orcs. The lower slopes of the Mountain of Lead ,a particularly tall, dull  grey mountain, with an inaccesible peak, has been their home all these long years. How they came to be there or how long they have dwelt there is not known. They have grown strong. They are the forgotten Yrrch, the Old Ones, the Zara Hai. They have only recently become aware of events unfolding in the wider world and the Cult of Sauron.Crudely daubed symbols on body and shield declare their newly found beliefs. They are mustering, preparing to march South to rejoin the war on men. They resent any intrusion of their homeland and will fiercly resist any attempt to cross their valley.....the valley that the White Finger are just about to cross
